New Year 09 Newsletter

Happy new year to all our members. For those of you not present at the AGM we regret to announce an increase in our membership fees for 2009. We have not increased the fees this century but increases in the BRC affiliation fee to £9 per member, plus increased insurance and administration costs.
We are now jointly responsible for organising the indoor novice SJ on the 7th Feb. at the Hand equestrian centre Clevedon. IF you can help with this event please let Sandra or Jinks know asap.

3rd March Cross Country Clinic with Lucinda Simms at Kingston  Maurward.  Lucinda has an all-round interest in all competitive spheres of the horse world at the highest level – but particularly Eventing and Showing. She is a  BE acredited Trainer who has competed abroad at International 3DE level. She retired  in 1994 having completed oveer 60 3 day events and now produces young horses at the Eventing Intro and Pre-Novice levels prior to handing them over to Antoinette Mckeowen to take further. Barbara Holden’s group lessons are on Saturday morning if there are sufficient numbers. If you are interested book with Barbara direct on 01305 889860.

Winter training is held on Tuesday evenings at Kingston Maurward, the cost is £13.50 per session. Book with Sandra on 01305 812965 or email weydistrc@tiscali.co.uk

Teams

Well done to our teams who competed at the area winter dressage championships. THE teams were not placed but Lizzie Dodge riding Faerie Wishes was individual 4th in Prelim 12 with a score of 67.6%
Alison Lewis and Scrumpy  scored 61.6% and Jo Sloley and Lord Fernando scored 60.4%. Our novice competitors were Sally Cann and Blue Diamond ll (65%) Lizzie Dodge and Killbegan (63.2%) and Claire Morcom and Amos (62.1%)  Well done everyone.

Training News

17th February Dressage to music clinic at Kingston Maurward
Barbara Hooper is a professional violinist with the BSO and was formerly a listed BD judge. The clinic will demonstrate how to select and adjust music to each particular horse. A freeware computer programme for compiling musicroutines  will also be demonstrated. There will be two groups of riders at 6.30 and 7.30 Book with Sandra 01305 812965 or by email Cost riders £13.50 Spectators £2 to include a hot drink.

Giddy Up Tack Shop –Club member Lyn’s mobile tack shop will be at all our club events and will make regular visits to most livery yards in our area. Non-stock items will be obtained for pre-paid orders. Phone Lyn 01305-771379 for more information

Dorchester Saddlery at Warmwell 10% discount to members except saddles and second hand goods. New Year special sale with 20% off all stock items except secondhand goods.

Club members may use the show jumps at Egdon free of charge but you must pay for the use of the school. Jumps must be put away properly after use and all breakages reported – otherwise they will not be repaired.
