New Year 2011 newsletter

Sadly Ivan lost his fight against cancer on the 14th of November.
I first met Ivan and Gill when the riding club’s temporary planning permission on the all weather surface at Littlemead expired and the riding club no longer had a home.
Ivan instantly volunteered to try to obtain planning permission on his land at Egdon for an all weather surface, which he subsequently did, but not without considerable opposition from the planning authority.
Ivan and Gill made the club welcome at Egdon for many years and we enjoyed being there.
Ivan was club chairman, built our show jumps and cross country course and helped at every event.
He also competed in all disciplines and latterly took up driving, which also included building his own vehicles. His sportsmanship and love for his horses are an example to us all. He will be sorely missed.
On behalf of the club may I offer condolences to all of Ivan’s family and friends.

The Christmas show made a profit of £100. This has been donated to Marie Curie Nurses in memory of Ivan.

From the Chairman.

After 17 years on the committee (11 as chairman) I am standing down to spend more time with my new horse. I will remain a helper and member of the club and I will offer the new chairman my full support. Please all be prepared to lend a hand, as you would be surprised how much effort it takes to run an affiliated riding club.

Teams

It is club policy to enter as many teams as we can for the area championships. The club will pay 50% of the entry fees. Visit. www.brcarea12.org.uk for details of the area competitions. If you do not have online access phone Tasha who will provide details for you.

If you want to compete as a qualifying entry for the championships at Lincoln in September 2011 you must have a valid Flu-Vac and we will need a copy a minimum of 30 days before the event.

There is now an online Flu-Vac checker on the BRC website (accessed through BHS.org.uk) so there is no excuse for out of date flu vacs.
