Ring 1
CLASS 1 Riding Horse
Open to horses of any age, to exceed 15.0hh at maturity. To be judged on overall suitability as a Riding Horse. Will be split into 1, 2, & 3 year olds and 4 years & over if entries warrant.
A special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Riding Club member.
CLASS 2 Riding Pony
Open to ponies of any age, not to exceed 14.2hh at maturity. To be judged on overall suitability as a Riding Pony. Will be split into 1, 2, & 3 year olds and 4 years & over if entries warrant.
A special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Riding Club member and to the highest placed handler under 13 years old.
CLASS 3 Riding Club Horse
Open to horses of any age, to exceed 15.0hh at maturity. To be judged on overall suitability for Riding Club Activities. Will be split into 1, 2, & 3 year olds and 4 years & over if entries warrant.
A special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Riding Club member.
CLASS 9 Part Bred Native
Open to horses or ponies of any age; please state breeding on entry form. Will be split into 1, 2, & 3 year olds and 4 years & over if entries warrant. Special rosettes will be awarded to the highest placed Cob Type and Riding Type entrants and to the highest placed Riding Club member.
CLASS 10 Open Mountain & Moorland
For both registered & non-registered, small and large breeds. Please state breed and registration number on entry form. This class will be split if entries warrant. A special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Riding Club member.
Small Breeds: Welsh Sections A & B, Dartmoor , Exmoor , Shetland.
Large Breeds: Welsh Sections C & D, Fell, Dale, Connemara , Highland , New Forest .
CLASS 11 Cob and Cob type
Open to Cobs and Cob Type, native and non-native, of any age. Will be split into cob and cob type if entries warrant. A special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Riding Club member.
Ring 1
CLASS 4 Veterans
Open to all horses and ponies 16 years old and over9. Will be split into under 21 and 21 & over if entries warrant. Special rosettes will be awarded to the highest placed Riding Club member and all horses over 21 yrs..
CLASS 5 Pony of Hunter Type
For ponies not to exceed 15hh on maturity. Will be split into 1, 2, & 3 year olds and 4 years & over if entries warrant.
Special rosettes will be awarded to the highest placed Brood Mare over 4 years old; highest placed Pony under 4 years old (if the class does not divide) and the highest placed Riding Club member.
CLASS 6 Hunters
For horses to exceed 15hh plus on maturity. Will be split into 1, 2, & 3 year olds and 4 years & over if entries warrant. A special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Brood Mare over 4 years old; highest placed horse under 4 years old (if the class does not divide) and the highest placed Riding Club member.
CLASS 7 Best Condition Pony or Horse
A special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Riding Club member.
CLASS 8 Coloured
A. Piebald or Skewbald Horse or Pony
Open to Piebald and Skewbald horses or ponies of any age. Will be split into 1, 2, & 3 year olds and 4 years & over if entries warrant. A special r osette will be awarded to the highest placed Cob Type and Riding Type entrants and to the highest placed Riding Club member.
B. other Coloured Horse or Pony Open to Palomino, Appaloosa and Dun horses or ponies of any age. Will be split into 1, 2, & 3 year olds and 4 years & over if entries warrant. A special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Cob Type and Riding Type entrants and to the highest placed Riding Club member.
IN-HAND SHOW CHAMPIONSHIP
Open to all 1 st and 2 nd prize winners
RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
1. Weymouth and District Riding Club and Landowners accept no liability for accident, injury or loss to competitors or spectators or their animals and equipment. Entries are accepted and admissions granted only on these conditions.
2. B.H.S. approved hard hats must be worn with the chinstrap secured at all times when mounted. Hats to PAS 015 or EN 1384 are recommended. Juniors should wear hard hats at all times when handling any horse or pony.
3. No horse or pony is to be taken into the “PEDESTRIAN ONLY” areas at any time. Horses and ponies can be unpredictable and children should be supervised.
4. The judge’s decision is final. Any objection must be made to the secretary’s tent within 15 minutes of the alleged incident accompanied by a deposit of £10 (refundable if the objection is sustained).
5. No horse or pony under 4 years old may be ridden. Anyone galloping or behaving dangerously on the showground will be asked to leave immediately.
6. The show committee reserve the right to cancel, restrict or amend any class should the entries warrant.
7. Entry fees are not refundable except on production of a vet’s or doctor’s certificate or under rule 6 above.
8. Times, where given, are approximate. Competitors who enter classes that coincide do so at their own risk. The onus is on the competitor to check with the ring steward as to the progress of classes.
9. All trophies are to be signed for and a deposit of £10 paid. They are to be retained for 1 year and returned on request.
HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY
1. The organiser has responsibility for health and safety.
2. The event is organised in accordance with Health and Safety legislation and all who have (to any extent) control of premises or site at the event are responsible for ensuring that:
a. Everything reasonably practicable is done to ensure the health, safety and welfare of those attending the event.
b. They conduct themselves so that they do not put themselves or anyone else at risk.
c. Access to and exit from the site is safe.
3. EMERGENCIES
a. Emergency services must have access to all parts of the event site at all times. Members of the public must not park vehicles so as to obstruct access.
b. First Aid points are clearly marked.
c. In case of an emergency, members of the public should contact the nearest official or the St John Ambulance.
4. HORSES & DOGS
Horses can be easily frightened and can be dangerous. Members of the public are requested to keep clear of horse areas / lanes and to avoid behaviour that might alarm horses.
Dogs must be kept under close control and on a lead at all times.
